Modesto Eyelid Surgery- Stockton Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to remove the excess eyelid skin.  The excess eyelid skin can cause the person to look fatigued, and sleepy.  The excess weight from the skin can also cause difficulty in maintaining reading; one typically gets tired after 15 minutes of reading and has to close the eyes and rest.  Significant loss of the upper visual field can be noted, as if one was wearing a baseball cap.

There are many times that the patients seek this procedure for a cosmetic purpose.  However, under some circumstances the procedure is done for a functional or a therapeutic purpose.  The insurance companies will provide coverage for the surgery when performed for a functional or therapeutic purpose.  In our office, we will perform a visual field test with the eyelids in the normal condition and also when taped up to show the difference in visual field performance.  The visual fields along with a photo documentation is submitted to the insurance company for pre-approval when possible.

Below is a case of a 53 year old female patient who underwent a bilateral functional upper eyelid blepharoplasty with Dr. Ash in Modesto.  Photos on the left are taken before the surgery and the photos on the right are taken 3 months after the surgery.

Below is a case of a 56 year old female patient who underwent a bilateral functional upper eyelid blepharoplasty with Dr. Ash in Modesto.  Photos on the left are taken before the surgery and the photos on the right are taken 7 weeks after the surgery.
